"Ukrania - Ladies' Vocal Quintet" was founded in 2002. At the time Anastasiya Koleushko and other four girls was involved in an experiment by The Veryovka Ukrainian National Song and Dance Ensemble (Veryovka Choir). The experiment consisted in creating an original music program for ladies' vocal ensemble.
The result of this work might have been seen on 01 December 2002. The concert and outstanding performance of the Quintet attracted much public attention. Next three years "Ukrania" took part in the many successful concerts.
The Quintet was awarded the medal "For the achievements in development of culture and arts" (the award of Ministry of culture and arts of Ukraine) on November 14, 2003.
At the beginning of 2006 four girls decided to work as the Vocal Quartet of Veryovka Choir and left the "Ukrania". Since then Anastasiya Koleushko began to look for new musicians.
The renewed Quintet made its presentation on June 12, 2007, kindly supported by The Foundation for Promotion of Arts Development. The concert took place in the premises of the Foundation. This day may be seemed as second birthday of the "Ukrania" Ladies' Vocal Quintet. The presentation was welcomed by art and music circles.
Now the members of the Quintet are Olena Stepanchenko, Natalia Khomenko, Vanda Drinevska, Myroslava Shchokina and Anastasiya Koleushko as permanent leader.
"Ukrania Ladies' Vocal Quintet" is an amateur a cappella ensemble which formed original style owing to mix of the folk and academic vocal. The repertoire of the Quintet consists of many Ukrainian and Russian folk songs as well as songs of modern composers. Some of the songs performed by the "Ukrania" are arranged by Anastasiya Koleushko including the songs of Klavdiya Shulzhenko.
The Quintet took part in some famous festivals such as World Festival Parade Brunssum (2004, Netherlands), Festival of Ukrainian Culture (2005, Sopot, Poland), International Festival of Chamber Music "Organum" (2005, Sumy, Ukraine), IVth World Music Festival "Krayina Mriy" (2007, Kyiv, Ukraine), International festival of choir sacred music XIII Rassegna Musicale di Canto Sacro (2007, Olbia, Sardegna, Italy), IX Raduno Corale Internazionale di Canti Natalizi (2009, St. Andrew the Apostle of the Ionian Sea, Calabria, Italy) as well as gave performances in Germany and Czech Republic.
